These are the moments...

Some moments in life seem like they are a gift straight from heaven. You know, those magical times when everything around you stops and you are living in a moment that will be forever imprinted in your memory.

I experienced one of these moments on Sunday evening. The moon was full around 9 pm and my mom and Charlie and I were running in her backyard trying to catch fireflies! It was completely spontaneous and fun! It was incredible to watch my two year old son get so excited about these little tiny bugs that light up! His eyes were as bright as the moon as he studied God's little, tiny creature. It crawled up his little arm and as I watched him, I realized that these are the moments that are just a little bit sweeter. These are the moments that make every problem in the world go away. These are the moments that make me love being a mommy. These are the moments that I thank God for every day.

I hope that after reading this, you will find some of those sweet moments in life. They probably come more often than I realize. I just have to watch out for them and expect them more often!

Feel free to comment about any of your special moments that are imprinted in your memory.

BE INSPIRED.

Welcome back, dear readers!

A Slice of Life

Hi to all of our readers and viewers!  I must apologize for not posting sooner but life has become a little crazy!  I am sure all of you know about that.   Sometimes life really gets in the way of other things we would like to do, doesn't it?  Just to catch everyone up on our little lives here I will give you the very short story of what has been keeping us so busy.
Valerie has had another beautiful baby, a little girl named Maeve.  She is so pretty and precious and obviously the apple of her grandmother's eye (mwah!)  We are so totally blessed to now have 4 little grandchildren all under the age of 3 and the good news is that we are also going to have another grandchild at the end of January because our other daughter, Julia, is also expecting again!  I would never have thought that I would have 5 grandchildren in such a short period of time.  Moreover, I never thought I would have 5 grandchildren!!!  Now, some of you know that I am an only child so this is thrilling for me.  So I got to thinking and here is what God told me about this...He said that I might be an only but I was NOT going to be lonely!  I think He has a plan, don't you?
On the flip side, my Mom has moved into an assisted living facility because I was caring for her and it became too much to handle.  This was a very emotional decision but one I am so glad we made because now I can see it was definitely the right decision for our family and for her.  She has lots of new people to talk to and activities to do and I now can resume my life and see my grandchildren and be daughter to my Mom, rather than a caretaker.  Through all of this there were some very nerve wracking moments and I want to share with you a verse I memorized that really helps me get through all the difficult times in my life lately.  It is from the Bible, Phillipians 4:6-7
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let you requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  After just saying that verse, I know that I can relax.  Have you heard the saying, "let go and let God."  Well, that about sums it up for me.  I hope this verse inspires you and perhaps you will memorize it, too, and be inspired to trust God with all your heart, with all your soul and all your mind.  And then...RELAX.  You will see, it works!
On top of all of the above, we decided to adopt a very cute little puppy!  I know, you are probably saying I am crazy but it also was a great decision!  Our good friends, Nancy and Mario's dog was pregnant and they have bred a beautiful little pup for us(and for 5 others, there were 6 in the litter.)  We took the only male and named him Leo. He will stay small and he is a joy.  He adds a lot of life to our otherwise quiet home(when the grandkids are not jumping all over the place! lol)
Sooooo, my dear friends, I hope that explains why we have been a little on the slow side to post to our blog.
Valerie and I have lots of new ideas to share with you and I hope you will continue to follow us and see where we take you inspirationally!  Please let us know what you have been doing and send us a message on our blog.  We will respond in kind and continue to try to inspire!  Until we blog again.....smiles and hugs.

Dollhouses of the Past Exhibit

Most recently, I am honored to showcase three watercolor paintings in my very first art show! This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the "Dollhouses of the Past" Exhibit at the Historical Society of Ocean Grove Musesum. What is so special about this exhibit is what the chairwoman is doing with these little dollhouses. They are each being turned into multi-level Artist Galleries featuring original 'miniature' artwork. Each artist that submits 3-4 pieces of work will have their own 'gallery' named after them!

These minis are only 2"x 2" square and were so much fun to make. The choice of medium we had was watercolor, acrylic, pen and ink or sculpture. I chose watercolor as this is a fairly new and challenging medium to me. I am an artist at heart who specializes in graphic design but wanted to spread my wings and see what I could come up with.  I have taken a few watercolor classes with some well accomplished artists and have dabbled in it on my own. I hope you enjoy these three mini creations!
